Top Five Business Writing Tips
While enjoying my business writing class at Post University I have been inspired to write better professionally. Throughout the class I have compiled some tips to better enhance your reading experience. Let’s dive right in!
- Get to the point (Adams, 2013). A lesson I learned in high school: if you can say in one sentence what is told in multiple paragraphs, do.

2. Use the active voice (Adams, 2013). Instead of: the filing cabinet was organized by Amal, Amal organized the filing cabinet.

3. Be unified (Palomer College, n.d.). There should be one topic for each paragraph, or if the topic is too complex it should be broken down into digestible parts for the reader.

4. Be coherent (Palomer College, n.d.). The beginning of your writing to the end should be fluid and enjoyable for the reader.

5. Don’t use emoji. Emoji are cool and new and could help to make tough emails and communication a little better with a simple smiley face. But people can misinterpret their meaning and then further communication is necessary to air out the confusion. In the end it makes you look unprofessional.
There are so many resources online that can help you find your own business writing style; I have posted mine below. I hope you enjoyed the read and I know if we all follow these tips it can make our business writing more pleasant.
